Mimi Armstrong, a modern-day “Girl Friday” hailing from the suburbs of Houston made the bold move to follow her dreams and channel her creative talents in the beauty industry. Having a background in corporate America and the entertainment industry, Mimi has always dabbled in hair. She began in high school as a shampoo assistant at “Headliners Hair Salon”, in Houston, TX, to being the resident hair stylist in her dorm room during her college days at Dillard University.
 
Under the encouragement and advisement of her long time stylist, mentor and owner of Blendz Haircare Studio, Paula Britt, Mimi decided to embark on a new journey. Mimi began working with the Blendz team in June of 2005 as a mentee and apprentice under the advisement of Paula. In January of 2006, Mimi began working as a full time licensed stylist. Mimi left Blendz in July of 2007 to pursue other aspects of the beauty industry bringing her to where she is today.
 
Having matriculated through both, Dillard University and Harvard University, Mimi was afforded the skillset to launch her own business, The Hair Architecture Firm. The Healthy Hair Architect has quickly become a hair haven for noted celebrities such as Donna Richardson (fitness guru), Shanay (American Gladiators) and Kaira Akita (actress). Her reputation has also garnered the attention of highly influential tastemakers such as I’na Saulsberry (celebrity event planner) and Lorielle Broussard (owner of Barackawear). With such a diverse client roster, it’s no wonder why her work has appeared in the Atlanta Journal Constitution and graced the cover of Black Enterprise.
While Mimi enjoys all aspects of hair care, she specializes in custom blend color, cuts, and natural hair press or silk out. Within her community, Mimi has lent her talent and time to the Ryan Cameron Foundation and the Hal Jackson Talented Teens Pageant. When Mimi isn’t creating unique looks for her clientele or giving back to her community, Mimi is spending time with her son, Tyler.
